The California Senate Bill No. 721 requires the inspection of all multi-family residential buildings with three or more dwelling units that have exterior elevated elements, balconies, decks, stairs, etc. that rely in whole or in substantial part on wood structural support, by a recently extended deadline of January 1, 2026. After this initial inspection, you will be required to obtain subsequent inspections every six years.

Lerch Bates has over 20 years of experience in both the inspection and repair design of exterior elevated elements in multi-family properties, and we have not only inspected, but provided quality assurance on the reconstruction of thousands of elevated decks, balconies and walkways across the United States since our inception in 1999.
