About Brian
Brian Koons works in Lerch Bates’s Denver office providing building enclosure design, consulting, and engineering services. Brian is a facade engineer and consultant with multidisciplinary expertise in the areas of building enclosure design and engineering, structural mechanics, heat and mass transfer, and thermal fluids. He has applied his technical/engineering background to the areas of building science and architectural engineering with a primary focus on fenestration and glazing systems such as curtain wall, window wall, skylights, glass canopies, and glass guard rails.
Prior to joining Lerch Bates, Brian has worked for a premier custom curtain wall designer/contractor/manufacturer where he served as a curtain wall engineer focused on structural and thermal curtain wall design. Brian also aided the company with field and manufacturing engineering where he gained firsthand experience with fenestration manufacturing and installation. Additionally, Brian spearheaded the company’s curtain wall acoustics initiatives. Brian also has experience working for a curtain wall consulting firm providing fenestration consulting services for high-rise projects across the country. Later, Brian joined an enclosure architectural firm where he performed first-party design and engineering for fenestration systems for existing façade reclads, retrofits, and repairs. Overall, his experience in the industry is multi-faceted and has worked on complex projects from many different roles.
