Brian joined Lerch Bates in 2014 as a Managing Consultant for the Façade Access Consulting Group. Brian has in depth experience in façade access and vertical transportation design, project management, and architectural design metalwork.  These experiences provide him with all the tools needed to help design and implement technologically challenging vertical transportation and façade access projects. Notable façade access projects include Spring City 66 in Kunming, China, Union Sun Plaza in Chengdu, China, Wuhan Greenland, China; Guiyang IFC in Guiyang, China, and Ping ’An IFC South Tower in Shenzhen, China.

Before joining Lerch Bates, Brian spent over thirty-three years working internationally in the façade access and vertical transportation fields.  He started his career at Stephens & Carter PMA, moving to Cradle Runways (now OCS), and Cradlecraft Engineering where he was promoted from Design Engineer to Technical Manager. Brian has experience with permanent and temporary façade access equipment, mechanical handling, and architectural metalwork. Brian joined FujiTEC UK in 2000 as Engineering Manager adding vertical transportation experience including gaining EC certification for FujiTEC’s MRL Elevator.

Brian then joined Dunbar & Boardman as a façade access and vertical transportation consultant in the UK. Brian eventually moved to Bahrain where he managed the Middle East Gulf Cooperation Community office serving Kuwait, Qatar, Abu Dhabi, and Dubai. 

In Bahrain Brian joined Gulf General Lift Systems, a local elevator/BMU supplier as operations manager looking after the site installation team and providing technical support to the sales and senior management teams. While there Brian helped secure two large vertical transportation maintenance contracts with GOSI/AMLAK and Salmaniya Medical Complex.

Brian was an indentured apprentice with Vickers Ltd in the UK and he holds a HTEC (HNC) in Mechanical and Production Engineering from the City and Guilds of London Institute. Brian has also taken a number of management and specialist courses including CSCS accreditation, CDM auditor, BS 5950 Structural Steel Design and gained the professional qualifications of MIIE and I.Eng.
